Jess and Chris were married three days after Christmas. It was such a beautiful wintry evening. They celebrated with an intimate group of friends and family at Jedediah Hawkins Inn out on the North Fork of Long Island. Jess wore a handmade knit shawl made by her sister and the cutest sparkly heels that tied together perfectly with her gorgeous lacy dress. She had made her own candles that were laid out on each table along with other adorable accents you will see in the below photos!
Watching this wedding unfold from behind my camera was such an awesome experience. When Jess’s father saw her for the first time as she walked out of the house she had prepared in, it was like a scene from a Hollywood movie. Walking around Greenport where the grooms (and I) all grew up was so fun, especially since the groomsmen were all so easy and fun to photograph. After the ceremony, we ventured over to Salt Air Farms and walked through an apple orchard and endless fields of sunflowers. The day couldn't have gone more perfectly, the bride couldn't have been more gorgeous, and the two of them couldn't have looked any happier. My favorite part of the wedding, however, was in the last few moments of the night. Usually at the end of weddings the bride and groom are hopping around the dance floor with everyone. At the end of this night though, the bride and groom were in the middle of the dance floor clutching each other, with the biggest smiles on their faces. As I was snapping photos of them at one point, I looked at Jess and watched her as she told Drew, three times, "I love you so much." It was one of those perfect moments that reminded me even more why I love what I do.
In mid-December I spent a gorgeous Sunday afternoon with a mother and her two little girls. The Old Field Vineyards is an absolutely gorgeous property for photo ops. Being the baby of my family, I had so much fun capturing Erin with her older sister and mom. She reminded me of myself in that she was constantly joking around with them, but there were moments where it was so clearly evident she admires both of them so much. I love that I feel I can always relate to the people I photograph. It was especially fun to shoot these three, being able to connect so closely with the family dynamic shown in the below photos.
Photographed these three a few weeks ago on one of the coldest days out on the North Fork! The frigid weather did not seem to stop Lucas from attempting to walk right into the water. It was great to get to spend some time with an old high school friend and be inspired by the love she has for her children and the strength she exudes. She truly embraces the attitude of putting on a smile regardless of the situation. Happiness really is a choice. And despite the hurdles she encounters, it's exactly what this mother chooses.
Spent the day with this gorgeous duo a few weeks before Christmas. I can't believe what a little boy Ford has grown into since our last photo session. The second we hit the beach Ford was running around, throwing rocks into the water and having stick fights with his mother. The best part, however, was when he would fill his hat up with rocks and then put it back on his head. Each time he would do this he would burst into laughter and then do it again. He clearly knows how to entertain himself. These two have such a beautiful bond, but I'll let the photos tell the story...
