I met Margaret and Brad about a year ago. Margaret was living in Chigaco at the time, and Brad was in Minnesota. They traveled to a midpoint to celebrate their love a year later. After the two graduated from veterinarian school in 2010, Margaret moved to Chicago for her post-doctoral fellowship. Brad stayed in Minnesota for a residency. Obviously, they have a strong love for animals and at the time had acquired three horses, a cat, and two dogs. When Margaret moved, they split up the "kids" evenly. Today, Margaret is working in Baton Rouge at a job she moved to two months before the wedding. Brad is finishing his residency and then joining Margaret (who now has possession of all of the children) in Louisiana this August. I cannot begin to detail how absolutely relaxed, laid back, and fun the two of them were on their wedding day. They are both extremely smart and very strong people for being able to maintain something as beautiful as I saw while being over a thousand miles apart. Margaret mentioned how it had been the joke among their family and friends that they "live apart, get married, still live apart, and spend the first marriage year being 1,181 miles away from each other. Southwest & Delta Airlines LOVE me." Their ceremony was at Poquatuck Hall in Orient, and the reception was in Greenport at the home of Margaret’s aunt. It was a gorgeous day, and a perfect celebration of long distance love
It was about 38 degrees out on the Sunday after Thanksgiving when I met up with Amanda and Greg for their engagement photos near the water. Luckily, especially for Amanda who was dressed in an adorable white summer dress, I brought some warm beverages. After sharing a hot toddy the two of them were prepared for what turned out to be a really fun and easy shoot. Capturing how in love these two are was about twenty times easier than trying to figure out how to make the turkey with my sister for Thanksgiving with step by step instructions. I am so happy for these two and had such a blast spending the afternoon with this absolutely stunning couple!
I have known Jess for over 16 years and was so excited to be able to take these photos for her and Greg. She looked gorgeous as usual and they both were so easy to shoot. We made it to the beach, and then went down to the Dr. Claire Memorial in Greenport, NY where Greg had proposed to Jess.
