Last week I turned a quarter century. I will not bore you with endless cliché sentences declaring how fast the years go. I will say it once though, they go pretty damn fast. I think I was about ten years old when me and my friend took out my rowboat for a summer day adventure, and I brought my disposable camera. Of course, about ten minutes into the excursion, the boat capsized. I remember there was a lot of stuff we had brought for our picnic, but all I grabbed in the last moment before all of it went overboard was that $5.99 camera. I was holding it above water as everything else quickly sunk into the bay. It was somewhere in that moment, in between soggy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and seaweed soaked old navy capris, that I realized how important my camera was to me. My camera and my photography have consumed my life since that day. This year has definitely had it's ups and downs but no matter what I have always been able to find happiness in photography. Here are a few of the things that I captured on the first day of my 25th year! A very special thank you to the people who made this day so special, I feel so extremely blessed to have you all in my life.
